Hello everyone, and happy New Release Monday! Today, I am releasing my next module map recreation from Curse of Strahd: The Vistani Camp.
Additionally, I have included a variant with just the hill only, no houses, tents, or road, so you can use this as a grassy knoll within the forest for more variety.
I stayed pretty close to the module on this one, though I did create interiors for each of the seven Dusk Elf homes.
Each home is small, but cozy, showing how the remaining Dusk Elves spend their days. From hunting to making forlorn music to writing poetry about their people's struggles, all while under the shadow of the looming Vistani Camp above.
For the Vistani Camp I tightened up the wagon circle to make less gaps in between them and make it feel more defensible. I focused on the vibrancy of the Vistani people by adding color, dyed clothing, and rare silks/fabrics, fresh tobacco, and mulled / spiced wines from outside of Barovia to hint at their ability to travel between domains.
I also had commissioned a new tent asset to match my vision of what such a large tent would look like. You'll notice the support beams of wood that create the frame on the inside, and the colorful and vibrant pattern of color to make this location stand out in such a bleak land.
The module states the tent roof has holes in it to allow the campfire smoke to escape, but in my tent design, there is open air between the tent roof and the upper supports, allowing both for ventilation, but also to allow the campfire smoke to escape.
Additionally, I created a grassy knoll version, which just includes the hill without any houses or Vistani presence. This can be used in any campaign as a nature location for all sorts of encounters!

This was the last of the official "Vallaki" map recreations (Though this location is on the outskirts of Vallaki), so I can proudly say I've now re-created each Vallaki map from the main module! There are still a few other locations added by other supplements that I plan to tackle, as well as my own adventure (The Sanguine Rose), so I will be coming back here at some point to finish those.
I've already started mapping my way west across the Luna River, including both the bridge and the crossroads. I might jump around a bit as I'd like to tackle Berez, Van Richten's Tower, Krezk, and the Winery.
For my Saltmarsh crowd, next up I'll be tackling location #30 "The Standing Stones" as I'm currently getting new assets commissioned, which focus on graveyards (different perspective grave stones, urns, etc) that I want to use for the Saltmarsh graveyard.
Lastly, for those following my work with Reloaded, I have two releases planned this month! One that will follow this post, where I'll repurpose this map for one of the Reloaded locations, and another one later this month.
Talanor has also been cooking behind the scenes with some amazing new Foundry updates to the UI, which I'll showcase once the Temple of the Moon map is finished and out.
Thank you all for your continued support of my work, and I hope you have many wonderful encounters here at the Vistani Camp!
Cheers friends,
DM Andy
