Hey everyone, and happy Sneak Peek Thursday! Today, I'm very excited to tackle another older map that I did years ago. Though I was pretty happy with my original Western Gate map, I wanted to update it so it was more in line with my recent maps. I especially wanted to focus on the 100-foot-tall wall looming over this western road.
The CoS book is not clear on whether this gate is exactly the same as the eastern gate your players see when they first get to Barovia, but I made it similar. I added the two knight statues on the other side, facing away from the gate, since it makes sense for the statues to be "Guarding" the gates that both lead to Castle Ravenloft.
This map will also be a little larger than my normal size and will grid at 40x60. I'll include a branch on the road at the bottom of the map to show the road leading to Castle Ravenloft. Perfect for having Strahd's Black Carriage waiting for them! Now...if only we had an awesome Strahd's Black Carriage asset to use in the future... (wink wink).
