As the eagle-eyed readers amongst you might have already noticed, this update looks a bit different than our previous ones. But why? Basically, as you are likely aware, the animations in FUNS have gotten far more complicated and numerous as the game has progressed. For context, we initially thought we were being ambitious by tripling the number of animations from one to three as we shifted from Turning the Page to FUNS. Now, we have somewhere in the region of five animations per update, and a lot more care and effort goes into each one. However, despite that, we never bothered to update our tracking metrics. As such, they are not quite as precise as they could be, so we decided to address that.

Basically, the way we were doing it was by marking when the CGs were finished drawing and when we had gotten them rigged by the animator. This way of doing things dates back to TTP, as back then, that was basically the end of the process. Now, however, that is more or less just the beginning. These days we take those rigs and make the many variations you have come to enjoy. Then, on top of that, we add SFX to each variation so that the experience of watching it is cohesive and the sound doesn’t get out of sync with the movement. This is different from the SFX that we add to the script to liven up our non-CG scenes.

So, all that being said, starting today we will be breaking down our metrics into slightly more categories. We’ve split the animation into two different steps, as well as putting in another category of SFX. That way you will be able to know when the rigging, the variations, and both kinds of SFX are complete, leading to less confusion. We hope giving you a bit more information will help you be more aware of how things are going on our end!

We’ll leave you with that, and we hope you all have a good day! 🙏

Until next time, take care 💜
