It's kind of funny how I sometimes think "Hey, we're doing well here and we should be getting this build ready well ahead of time," and then I recall I haven't done something, like code in the audio yet, and that good feeling just fades. It's not like that work isn't just a few hours to do, especially once the build is playable, but the end of the development cycle has a lot of time-consuming tasks like that. I'm not saying there isn't a lot of fun to be had--I wouldn't be on game #3 if I didn't enjoy it--but that every good thing always has some tedium to get to the end.
In terms of the actual build, the primary rendering/animation is done, as is the first draft of the script, coded in and functional. It's playable, but there are some story flags and audio cues that still need to be built. Also, I need to remember to get the bonus picture for the end-of-chapter achievement.
In other news, some of you have heard me talk in passing about how absolutely garbage the internet infrastructure is where I live. Like, when we have thunderstorms, it drops out regularly. And the connection speed borders on dial-up (for those too young to know what that is, it's using a phone land line to connect to the internet, usually at speeds that would make a snail rigid with envy). I have an appointment with the internet carrier to replace the original copper lines with fiber in the next few weeks, so here's hoping that helps some. I'm not looking for light-speed, but maybe something stable would be nice.
