Lady Windermere's Fan emerged victorious on its third try at showdown in the weekly request poll, receiving nearly half the vote opposite first-timers Drowning by Numbers (31%) and Shaolin Soccer (22%). Victor Morton, who requested it, had previously requested Lubitsch's The Doll and is pretty singlehandedly keeping silent cinema in the mix at the moment; happy to see a bunch of you voting for silents, and for pre-1970 films generally. (The most frequent years among winners—something I can now easily check via Lbox stats—are 1982, 1994, 1992, 1981, and 1983.) It's currently streaming on MGM+, if you happen to subscribe (as I do).
Today's the 15th but the poll concluded yesterday on the 14th so I'll conduct the random drawing next week. Apart from Lady Windermere I'm currently completely caught up! Gonna relax for a bit (i.e. watch films that mostly get randomly selected from my watchlist).
