Three new covers (Something is Killing the Children, The Deadman, and Catwoman) + process

On Thursday, three new covers I did were announced; two (The Deadman and Catwoman) are coming out in September, while Something is Killing the Children was solicited early (for October), as it is their big issue 50 celebration! I am so happy to be a part of it! I super fucking LOVED drawing Erica Slaughter, a true baddie who just does her best as much as possible - though she is far from perfect!

Included below are images of the original layouts I did for each cover, as well as the original inks. Each one was a different challenge; I inked the Catwoman cover entirely with microns, but I wanted to try something new with the SIKTC cover, and opted to use a nib for it, instead. I ended up being super happy with how it looked, and so I used it on the Deadman cover, as well. I am really expanding my tools left and right and having so much fun doing so 😌

Honestly, the hardest part of ANY of these covers was the pencilling of the Deadman cover, as figuring out how to draw person on top of person on top of person in a way that made sense was… well, I am glad I did it (the cover is BLOWING UP on Instagram), but WHEW was it a lot of work! Hahahaha

I remember a couple friends seeing the Deadman layout and being like, “I don’t think it’s a good idea for him to be facing away from the camera,” and I was just like, “You ever heard of DESIGN BEFORE???” Lmao. Also, I snuck Ingrid onto the cover (on the right in the Superman leather jacket) hehehe

I have already gotten a bunch of asks for selling both the SIKTC and Deadman covers, which is great! I am very proud of both of them! I hope that, when I do sell all these, they do super well ☺️☺️☺️
