Hey, you all! So, now that it has been a few days since public release, it's time for a bit of a recap.
So, surprisingly enough, this has been the smoothest release in a long time. I was pretty on edge about this release window, given some of the thoughts shared pre-release. But overall, sentiment seems pretty positive! This is honestly fairly relieving on my end. The game has gotten over 3.5k downloads over the past few days!
Obviously, no launch is perfect. The most prevalent issue that seems to be popping up is players getting a blank character the first time they start things up. For some reason, either running the game as admin or re-unzipping the file seems to be working for people. But I'm not sure why it's happening in the first place. I'll try to do more digging where I can.
But in the mean time, I've been implementing some improvements that will release in another Patron build soon, possibly this weekend.
The feedback form hasn't gotten a ton of entries so far. But most of the forms submitted so have been very informative! Many thanks if you submitted one, and feel free to if you haven't already. So far, it seems like people want more customization to come back more than anything else at the moment (32.4%). With personalities/interactions in close second (26.5%).
I'll try to see how much of that I can incorporate to the next public update.
So here's the thing. Along with fixes and reimplementing past things, I really want to try to add the first minigame with the next public release. With the ideas that I have, the whole gameplay loop partially revolves around a small collection minigames. The plan goes like this:
The foods you feed you citizen and how you interact with them effect their stats. That combined with their personality influences how well they participate in particular minigames. The more minigames you win, the more money you get, the more food you can buy for citizens.
I'm still thinking about what game to implement first. But I'm heavily considering a simple eating contest minigame, given the game already has half of the code needed for that. I'll keep you updated on what happens.
But for now, thanks for playing the new release! If you're in Delicious Tier, expect a new build maybe sometime this week with some minor improvements and fixes.
