Rex/PCB Arachnid Comparisons! 🕸️
DESCRIPTION

Okay here we go! The big moment you’ve all been waiting for!

Putting together all these comparisons, got me curious... Like why was the Battle Damaged version designed to match with the original PCB Spider-Man, and not the newer version?

And if it was intentional, why aren’t details matched, such as printing the arm design over dark blue arms instead of red?

Or one step further, how there’s added boot detail on the insides of the legs for the damaged fig but not on the upgraded v2? 🤔

It was also interesting to look at the old PCB, the new PCB, and LifeBrick side by side. None of them are perfect, but if LifeBrick would’ve fully printed the blue for the inner legs, it would have easily taken the lead for my favorite. I mean come on! I’m still blown away by that wrap around print work!

I appreciate the design consistency between PCB's new Peter Parker head that matches up with the original v1 Peter Parker head included back with the Symbiote fig!

Oh and here's a fun comparison! PCB vs Crosscheck’s “Regular Guy”. It still baffles me as to why CC printed their faces onto knock-off heads though... Boy looks like he’s got a rectangle for a head, and that’s saying something considering they’re block-shaped figures!

As for the Amazing-Garfield-Man, Jaka's fig easily takes the cake for the better of the two. While they both have the “bright red hands” issue due to texture work, at least Jaka fully committed to the 360° printing!

Although I’ll give it to PCB for a few things. Like the eye shaping is certainly more accurate! The highlights on the black borders are just waaay better than Jaka’s (even if PCB shot themselves in the foot with that terrible red texture for the rest of the head)

Speaking of textures, PCB’s shiny blue textured hexagons are also more impressive than Jaka’s lil dots. Again though, the lack of wrap-around print really kills this fig 🤷🏻‍♂️

And finally to compare a fig I would’ve sworn couldn’t be topped!

PCB brings us this really impressive great Final Swing Spidey that has completely printed legs! Something LifeBrick sorely lacked!

Not only that, but PCB’s webbing isn’t as high contrast, leaning more towards a dark red shade! The blue feels more metallic, and its linework much more prominent!

AND it’s got printed hands!

It’s impressive how far and above the rest of the figs this one is! Better designed and produced than it had any right to be when next to its siblings! BrothersFigure did an incredible job here! And even crazier against LifeBrick of all brands! We love LB in this house!

Phew… that’s a lot of Spideys!

With some of my final thoughts begining to settle, more questions arise. Like how despite all these Rex Arachnids being released at the same time, they feel like they were designed at different times, with different line thicknesses and details in mind.

There’s an interesting lack of cohesion between the four figs. Like why do some figs have wrap-around limb print, and others do not? Why does the Tobey head have a weird pink five o'clock shadow, but the Garfield head has standard Lego dotted stubble? 🤨

Some of these figs are great, and some are… well, they are not so great. But their story now finally comes to a close!

Good grief!
