Ella rolled back on her hips, pressing herself into the corner, avoiding the open windows on the far side of the room. Thick heavy shadows giving way to the filtered morning sun. Creaking boards and squealing hinges faded, replaced with the pulse surging in her ears, and the fine hairs on her forearms slipping across her skin. Her hazel eyes locked on the pink pile of thick sailcloth laying on the floor a few feet away.
The massive cow had left her alone, finally. Running a hand across the bare skin of her side cut, Ella clenched her fingers tightly to her upper arms. Mind reeling as she tried to remember how she’d gotten here, the woman laid her head against the wall. “Okey Dokie…” She sighed, narrowing her gaze on the far wall, painted with fake furniture and décor. “…What do I do now?”
Shooting to her knees, air washing across her bare skin, Ella’s jaw dropped. “My phone! It might still work!” Crawling forward, the brunette pressed herself onto her feet. Sprinting across the floor, she leaned out the window. The red, black, and white field below spread out several yards towards the massive slabs of hickory stretching off north and south. Beyond the reddish field she saw her clothes, a tiny pile of black leather and denim.
“Feeling bolder?” Bianca sneered, her voice booming in the titanic attic. “I’m glad. Can’t hide in there forever.” Turning to the right, Ella saw Bianca standing atop the attic stairs. The cotton-candy themed brat twisting in place with her arms behind her back, her teal hair hanging in such a way that it covered her right eye. Ella bit her cheek, cold pinning her to the floor. Lifting her hand, Bianca swept the hair behind her ear. “Aww, is my little guest still naked?” She beamed; her gaze locked onto Ella.
Bianca stepped forward, each step rattled the window frame Ella leant against. Bianca rose higher, expanding up and out as she drew near. “Back!” She giggled, dropping to her knees. “Back, back, back, back, back.” Snapping the fingers on her right hand and seizing the edge of the roof below the window.
Jumping backwards, the wall and roof lifted away from her. Ella stumbled on the pink pile of cloth, falling onto her backside as she watched light flood the space. Bianca sat back, lifting her right hand to her mouth as she chuckled. “You have no idea how cute you look down there.” She sang, setting her hand in her lap. “Go on then, I know you like being nude, but we have things to settle. Get dressed.”
Grumbling, Ella reached down, lifting the stiff dress from the floor. Slipping the skirt over her head, she tugged the abrasive material down. Seizing the hem and tugging it towards the floor with all her strength. The fabric gave slightly, almost snapping into place.
In a huff Ella closed her fists bouncing slightly on her toes, locked in place by the serene, vacuous expression of the colossal bimbo kneeling on what had been her area rug. “Oh… feisty, aren’t we?” Bianca mewled, tilting her head to one side. “You know, Barbie smiles.”
Ella’s foot slammed into the floor, the thin balsa wood vibrating beneath her bare toes. “I’m not Barbie!!” She screamed, flipping the larger woman off.
Giggling, Bianca rolled her eyes. “Of course not, silly.” She snarled. “That dress would fit.” Sighing, Bianca reached behind her. Ella walked forward, pausing a few feet from the edge of the top-floor. Bianca lifted a pair of Ella’s scissors and held up a clenched fist.
Unfurling her fingers, Ella could see the familiar shine coming from her leather studded jacket. “You used to be such a cool bird, Ella…” She let out a slow contented breath. “I used to look up to you.”
She slipped the scissors into the waist of the jacket, opening the blades. “You never thought much of me, did you? Called me a poseur, a ‘Pop-Punk Princess’ yeah?” The blades scraped closed, Ella heard the crack as plastic studs crushing between the blades. “Too bad you couldn’t see the woman I was meant to be. Well, I built the ray, and I’m on my way.” She held out her hand, letting strips of leather fall at Ella’s feet. “And you’re just a doll I used to know.”
Ella narrowed her gaze, swallowing hard. Her roommate stared down at her. She was humming some tune, the giant woman’s jaw clenching and releasing slowly as she sang silently to herself. The pit in Ella’s stomach caused her knees to buckle. Without the ray, Ella was stuck, locked in a dollhouse. Utterly powerless and at Bianca’s mercy, all she could hope to do was keep her dignity. Until…something, anything, changed.
