After a few days of thinking it over, I’ve decided to take down the “Orion HQ” group chat for now.
It was originally created as a space where I could share mini WIPs, sneak peeks, and ideas I was exploring. I really enjoyed interacting with everyone and loved incorporating your ideas into my illustrations on the fly!
I wanted to bridge the gap between myself as an artist and my supporters, since many of my ideas come from the fantasies, thoughts, and suggestions that all of you share.
However, with a space like that, it’s inevitable that different perspectives and opinions will emerge, and they won’t always align. At the end of the day, I’m only one person, and I simply can’t do justice to every idea that gets suggested.
I also realized that constantly being exposed to feedback and criticism, especially when it is unsolicited, has affected my creative process more than I expected.
While I know most of it comes from a good place, receiving a steady stream of opinions while I am still developing an idea can sometimes disrupt my flow and make me second-guess my creative decisions. For now, I think it is healthier for me to create with a bit more distance and trust my own instincts before sharing my work with others.
Uploads will continue as usual, and you can expect the Raihan illustration set soon. For now, I need to focus on rebuilding my confidence and finding my footing again as an artist. We'll see where my silly little squeaky brain leads me.
