Been a while since I thought about this, but in the past it's come up with a couple of you and I see the tides naturally shifting so figured I'd run it by you guys for a consensus.
All VR animations have a goal of 3 minutes and that's been for a very specific reason. Initially, back when i originally shifted to video over unity content that's what people seemed to want. Also, after testing "looping" instead video players on the quest I noticed a delay between the stop and start of the animation. That was immersion breaking, so instead of manual looping through the video player, having built into the animation seems like the best way to give more time for the animation to run.
With changes the workflow affecting file sizes, the current 4k and 8k paired releases, changes to hardware, a huge increase in the library size, and ppl have different preferences for managing content I've opened things up super wide for customization. We have the community request channel for requesting shorter versions, different resolutions, etc. and it's getting some use, but if we need to make a more global change I'm open to that.
I'll leave the poll open until the end of next weekend, but I'm hoping most of the votes come in this weekend and base don the numbers I'll likely be leaning towards your decision based on when the bulk responses come in / taper off.
Any comments, complaints or things I didn't mentioned that you want to ask or add into consideration feel free to write it on this post. This is the one to do it on instead of the release notification posts. We'll even open it up to unrelated stuff, go wild, but constructive criticism please. If its not actionable, it'll probably be difficult to act on lol.
