It's around 5am on Sunday morning. Eddie stayed in last night; Seamus did not. Eddie wakes up to hear the door of his room swing open, and someone stumbles drunkenly over to his bed. And then, as he stares at the wall trying to pretend he's still asleep, he feels that someone collapse into bed next to him - and an arm wraps around his chest to hold him tight, even as that someone slips quickly into a deep sleep, exhaling alcohol-scented breath against the back of his neck.I really enjoyed working on this painting and trying to capture the anxiety-ridden ambiguity and tension that Eddie is feeling here! I don't think the poor guy is in a good state of mind here. Something tells me that in the cold light of day, a hungover Seamus will laugh and wave all this away as an awkward joke, something he did when he was drunkenly out of his mind, and it didn't mean anything at all - though the truth of his buried feelings is likely very different than all that. I hope you guys like how this one turned out. 💚
