Wanted to do a 4th of July special this year! I wanted to draw a scene embracing all the ugly, grimy aspects of our American landscape: Walmart and fast food and gas stations and endless barren swaths of asphalt. And anonymous Random Gym Bro, in all his trashy glory, is right at home here.
My goal with this painting will be to make it feel as authentic as possible - any Americans who might be reading this, you know these types of settings!! The 4-lane roads, the endless profusion of signage for chain stores. And then in the middle of it, I want RGB to feel both integrated with the scenery, and also assert dominance over it at the same time.
PS, I think my interest in embracing the grimy ugliness of Americana might be sparked by the new Slayyyter album, anybody else enjoying it??
