“Your sorcery…w-won’t work on me…” he spoke, but he realized that he wasn’t coming up with the words that flowed form his tongue.
The dragoness was controlling his speech, mocking the classical attitude of a medieval hero and turning him into her own personal puppet.
“That’s what you wanted to say, right?” she loomed over his smaller body and grinned wide, displaying a gallery of glistening fangs in a wide, eager grin. “That my spell would fail, and you would emerge from this conflict victorious? I’m sure that’s what it was going to be…but you won’t be leaving this cave, I’m afraid…”
The swirls of toxic green appeared to drip down from the depths of her eyes, as if her irises were draining through her tear ducts and pouring out over the armor of the defeated hero.
It was a sensation unlike anything he’d ever felt before, and one that he couldn’t be sure was really happening…but one thing was for certain, as he stumbled about and plopped onto his backside.
He was under a spell from which there was no natural escape.
“You know, from the moment you ambled your way into my domain, I never thought you looked right as a skunk,” the dragoness admitted. “There was a hint of green in the rust on your armor…and as soon as I saw it, I knew there was another form that you were better suited for.”
Firr’s blink carried the same, swirling green of the hypnotic spell; his nod was mindless.
“You’ll have to show your appreciation for my graciousness in a very specific way, but for the time being…why don’t you tell me how much you’re enjoying the change?”
Holding his paw up before his muzzle and watching the fur shed away from his digits, Firr cocked a brow and flickered his fingertips, confused by the way his claws elongated and curved into tiny, capable daggers.
“This is…uh…d-different…”
“But isn’t it better?”
She didn’t need to plant that idea in his mind with such force, but their time together was already limited: she wanted to have what fun she could with the little skunk while he was still around…and while he was still a skunk.
The green that dripped from her eyes was filling his worldview with a strange hue, but there was a permanence to the color that betrayed the streaks of black that once coated his arms. Instead, scales were pushing up from his flesh, casting tufts of fur and hair aside and replacing the space with dark, ruddy shade of viridian…and the process was moving back toward his shoulder, under the guise of his armor.
He wouldn’t have been able to see how far the change was moving along his chest, until the plate and chain that once fit nice and snug against his flesh became loose and baggy. An instinct he’d never known before compelled him to strip away the top layer of his protective gear, but even before he could, the shoulder plates fell away from either side of his neck and revealed an unexpected side effect of the transformation.
Whatever was happening to him, he was shrinking, just enough that the armor on his body couldn’t possibly remain in place.
“You know, I was gonna comment on how cute you were, but stripping for me isn’t going to get you out of trouble…”
