Phil blamed the translator, who had told him that the scroll contained a spell for discovering for oneself a girlfriend of perfection. How was he to know 'discover for' and 'transform into' were the same in ancient Akkadian? But since 'Girlfriend of Perfection' should have read 'Princess Concubine,' life hadn't turned out too badly. Living in the palace with servants was great, at least when she was allowed to leave the bedroom. And her only real job was kind of fun, too.
