Happy New Year folks! :3 (Yeah I know it's February)
Because of Christmas commitments and an early January holiday, I ended up drawing the majority of these in late Jan! I managed to finish them all before the February round of Patreon Sketches started up, and I'm super happy with how the majority of these came out!
An important skill that I've been trying to teach myself doing these sketches is art on a time budget. I'm trying to squeeze each one down to under one hour of work, whilst keeping a similar quality and consistency with my full commissions. I call them 'sketches,' even though a lot of them end up as full pieces, but that's mostly because I do spent quite a lot more time refining anatomy, poses, lineart and rendering on full commissions. I feel like the majority of these Patreon Sketches match my full commission ability from like a few years ago, meanwhile, I continue to push past the limits of my artistic ability with my full comms. I'm rambling, does any of this make sense?
Anyways, all this is to say, I am really happy with how a lot of these turned out with such a short amount of time spent on them. I feel like I'm getting really good at blocking out a convincing three-dimensional pose, which has helped improve the look and feel of a lot of these quicker drawings dramatically. I've even found myself being more impressed with some of these than I have with my full comms as of late, so I think - I hope - I'm doing something right lol
