Phew, that ended up being a bit of a unexpected hiatus! Between obligations, some pretty persistant tech issues and a little burnout trying to do both, things are getitng back on track here!
I do hope you all had a delightful end of year, and that this year either ends up being better then the last, or you end up punching through and getting things sorted for a better tomorrow! <3
Speaking of a better tomorrow, the Chapter 2 of the Inanis and Thistleland comics will be starting next month, staggered monthly as we have done before!
Also, we have some more Sylas artwork to post! Timor realy got into his new totally-not-a-self-insert character~! I can't fully remember what's been posted on the discord server, so well plop up a selection here for you all to enjoy <3
In the first two pieces, we can see an armourset that Sylas uses when at work. Mustelidae civallisations often have a bit more of a heavy focus on one or two more specific areas of expertise then many other of the Inanis galaxy, and the Wolverine (and also Honey Badger) folk have a bit more of an attention to pushing through adversary for close range engagements (something other civallisations still have trouble reconsiling with space-based conmbat). As such their ships and armour have a little more focus on ablative technologies, able to actually take hits that would turn other ships to slag. Naturally this comes with advantages in more brutal dogfights and other difficult situations, but as with all things comes with a large logistics and power projection shortcoming. It's best to not get in a fight with a ship from the Wolvering or Honey Badger civallisations unless you are able to outmatch them... and able to keep your distance.
As for the dancing piece, many species in Inanis have had to learn each others source language and often eiter run translations, work out auto-translate options or create artificial common languages (Some set by the Dragons). In the case of some species this process was far, far easier then others. Many Mustelidae species both anthro and feralform share a fairly common non-verbal language method: Stylised movements. Dancing, you could say. While not often as eloquant as some spoken languages, it's honestly pretty good for holding a sort of psudo-conversation, and in places where verbal communication is impossible (such as space) it's actually a great boon to most Mustelidae folk! It's also a "language" that most other non-Mustelidae have a hard time understanding aside the basics, making it a sometimes surprisingly useful way to obscure your intent when using less known dance "dialects". Who is the Synth Stoat that Sylas is talking to here? I won't say, but you've seen them before, and you'll see them again ;D
Sylas and Cammomile have a.. it's hard to call it a complex professional relationship. I'm pretty sure were it not for the Tiny hungering Vulpines, she would have got rid of him a long time ago.... but hey life can be messy, eh!
Speaking of Sylas and the Tiny Hungering Vulpines, have some adorable snuggles and naptimes with the two. Sylas and THV have a rather fun relationship. in a way she considers him hers, and Sylas is perfectly fine with being claimed by the devouring swarm. His loyalty, usefulness, and devotion to her also affords him some tasks that she wouldn't allow other victims. But don't get the wrong idea, the Tiny Hungering Vulpines still uses him to make more SwarmFoxes, she still eats him alive when he's not doing work for her, and he's entirely at peace that one day he won't be coming out of that vulpine stomach. For now though, there's some tenderness while he has the vitality to enjoy her... attentions~
Happy New Year everyone, I do hope it's one that sees you all having a better time!
