Donnie Darko seems to have been a gift and a curse for Richard Kelly; on one hand, what an incredible directorial debut! On the other hand... that's all ya got??? As much as Miles & I enjoyed Southland Tales, I think we can all agree this man peaked with his first flick.
But is one great film not enough? Richard Kelly gave us something SO special here, and then he did it again with an unnecessary but still cool director's cut!
On that note, feel free to debate which version is superior in the comments BUT we are indeed watching the theatrical cut for this track. Got a problem with that?? Chut up!!!
PS. Never seen Donnie Darko before? Definitely watch it on your own first, because we're not holding back on spoilers from the jump.
