(This is another subclass that's prework for Machines of Bone & Blood). Lord Byron is actually pretty important to the history of the Luddite movement — he was the first and most prominent politician to come out in support of the Luddite cause. (It didn't accomplish a whole lot, and after they were brutally put down he just went back to writing poems and sex-pesting, but we can still give him a little credit). So I knew I had to write a bard subclass for him.

Verse Crafter gives us something resembling a poetry proficiency — Persuasion proficiency and the ability to add your Bardic Inspiration die to any speech check you spend at least 10 minutes rehearsing (i.e. not very many of them.) Tragic Poems is our main feature, letting you direct poems at your enemies' faults. Criticizing their defenses gives them a save malus, criticizing their health gives the next attack against them bonus damage, and criticizing their skill gives their next attack a malus. At 6th level, Enchanting Refrain effectively puts every enchantment spell in the game on your known-spells list, casting a total number of levels equal to half your bard level. And Heartrending Performance at 14 lets you start a recitation, afflicting every enemy in range with damage, save disadvantage, or the frightened condition.
