Hey everyone! Welcome to the halfway point of the year. Time is an endless rollercoaster that only seems to get faster the longer you stay on. Hope you like the like piece that I made to accompany the post. Going to try and do that as a thing to accompany these posts moving forward, as a way to keep me drawing while continuing work on the BA update.
Speaking of which. Work continues on the QoL update for Big Aspirations, I am nearly completed with the base game images as I type this. For those of you that downloaded the patch, I hope you liked the new images that were in there and I know some people also managed to dig up the little bit of new content that I hid away in there too.
Outside of the update I have also been doing a little bit of extra work on the next game behind the scenes, I booted up the work that had been done with the game from over a year and a half ago and seeing what was there, I knew that I could do better. So I started redrawing the character portraits and have decided to move away from the pixel art style that I was going for before, in favor of a more hand drawn aesthetic. Here are a couple of the girls as an example:
To go along with this art change, I am thinking of switching up the original vision of the game from a top down perspective into a more point and click style. It honestly won't change the gameplay all that much, but I think it will look better at the end of the day, mostly due to how out of whack some of the perspective was with the old style. It does mean development will have to do a big step back in progress, but at the end of the day, I want to put out something that I am proud of.
Onto the commissions for this month. The results from the Lacrue theme poll was as follows:
Lacrue backfires the gluttony curse on herself: 34 + (18) = 52
Lacrue and Nichole meet at an occult convention: 24
Aubrey comes into Lacrue's Shop: 34 + (2) = 36
Lacrue goes on a date while using transformation magic, and things go awry: 11 + (4) = 15
Lacrue at her home, what does she do when no eyes are on her?: 7 + (6) = 13
Lacrue is dragged to the beach and gets PISSED when some guy tries to hit on her: 4 + (2) = 6
How Lacrue learned magic and all the errors she made along the way: 12 + (4) = 16
So there was a pretty clear winner for this poll. So we get to see what happens to Lacrue when she gets a taste of her own magic! This piece is going to be done by MorbidlyAverarge, and you can expect the 2 page sequence to come out in a week on the 15th.
