Hope you're enjoying your Sunday! Here's a little sneak peek into the commission I'm currently working on: Universal Music asked me to create an album cover/background scene for the upcoming release of their Lola LoFi collective.
The collective's members are fictional characters, and the briefing included giving the group a cozy and relaxed "vinyl bar" space to hang out.
They need the scene to be modular, so they can create variations of it. So every object and character needs to be on a single layer, which makes setting everything up a little special. Here's the current outlines version. Chaotic, right? 😄
For this reason, I'm creating this in Clip Studio Paint and not Procreate. We need a very high resolution, so we can crop little scenes out of the whole illustration later. Procreate could not handle the 12k res + dozens of layers.
This is an example for the final look. This crop will be used for the first single release.
Of course you guys will be the first to see the final result, also let me know if you'd like to know more about the process, how I set up the layers and manage the file so the client can work perfectly with it later on.
