So... I wasn't ever actually done doing this. I just started actually getting updates out. So I felt less of a desire to get through my list of things to update stuff... Whoops. Been a bit. Let's get back into this endeavor to reveal all my efforts. And let's do that... by introducing Event Horizon. What is Event Horizon? It's a side project of mine that I've come to start developing when I don't have access to work on my main projects. There isn't a ton to this at the moment, so let's make this simple. It's a book. One thing I've found is that... when I'm at work and I have downtime... there's only so much I can work on. If I can get in the mood to work on stuff. One is brainstorming / outlining / planning. And the other, which I am pursuing via this... is writing out stuff novel style on my phone.
And the latter of those two helps me not spend more time just thinking of original ideas I can't actually work on, lol.
This is a project that will likely take multiple years to really get to a point that I feel comfortable doing a "first release", so I will refrain from getting significantly into "what" it is about. But I have bigger aspirations for it than just writing a novel.Event Horizon is something I plan to write that'll have multiple routes in a Visual Novel style formula. Also in a VN type move, I want visuals to be relevant in at least some of the releases of it.
A while back, for Mockingbird's bad end system, I started to develop a method to present novel type writing in RPG Maker. I wanted to make it a bit more engaging. Have opportunities to have backgrounds, music, character art and reactions, and the ability to pace out the writing from a designed perspective. So, I expanded on the Mockingbird efforts to create some prototypes of how I could do that ( as seen above ).
That is what I want to eventually do with Event Horizon. It will be written as a book, and then later enhanced into something more akin to a visual novel form that can be played online or otherwise.
First things first though. I need to write it. The process for that is... when I am in the mood for it and have time at like my work and such. Which... that's not been really a heavily available recently. At the same time, I've also been trying to read more novel type works. I enter this someone who rarely reads those, so I've plenty to learn.
This is a new and interesting creative endeavor, so I'm excited to slowly chip away at it as an effort.
And, every once in a while, I'll add a little more to the visual efforts. In particular... character designs.
Honestly, something about being able to imagine the characters that are talking really helps me, I've found.
Add to that, the last major thing to note is that I've stocked up on resources for tons of background that can be used for this eventually.
Anyways. Don't expect to hear anything on this any time soon. It is still very early days. Despite that, I hope this was an interesting behind the scenes look at some of my creative endeavors.
Best wishes to all! I hope you have a good day.
