Hello everyone!

Today I'd like to chat about something casual. Recently, I've been watching a lot of Masahiro Sakurai's YouTube channel "Masahiro Sakurai on Creating Games."

These videos explain various aspects of the game industry in a broad but accessible way. They're concisely edited, making them perfect for quick viewing.

In one of these videos, Sakurai talked about using action figures to specify character poses when directing motion. When I saw this, I thought "That's so convenient for quickly creating pose references!" Previously, when giving instructions, I would use gestures or directly modify the data myself.

So I decided to buy my own figure!

I purchased the "Body-chan -Sports- Edition -Wireframe" (I chose this one because it seemed to have a good range of motion). https://tamashiiweb.com/item/15089/

After using it, I've found that one of the best things about creating poses with figures is being able to see them in three dimensions rather than flat on a page. It makes it much easier to be conscious of the character's center of gravity.

I think it also helps with being aware of camera angles. You can really get a sense of which angles make a pose look cool, which is useful when planning camera work.

↑ See how the same pose gives different impressions depending on the camera angle?

I don't usually buy figures at all, but this was definitely a worthwhile purchase!
