Dark Corners, Jagged Edges
It's not just me right? Deltarune is full of weird bullshit. Pointed tails, fallen stars, black oceans of glass... that sort of thing. Imagery like this is undeniably weird, and most certainly bullshit, but the worst part is that every that chapter that releases seems hellbent on adding MORE unknowable knickknacks to the mystery pile without explaining ANYTHING already sitting there and collecting dust. Does Toby Fox think he can keep this up without any of us noticing? That he can just keep stuffing his game with more and more confusing nonsense without any of us getting up and asking questions?
Well, I'm here to announce definitively and without reservation: the answer is no. Because I went insane last Fall and decided to think about nothing but Weird Bullshit for about 6 months, and then make a video about all the bullshit I'd thought about. The original criteria for this analysis was simple: if it makes no sense and has no relevance to the game's plot, it's going in. Shadow crystals? Yes. Forgotten Man? Sure. Eram/Nightmare/John Shadow Mantle? Fuck it, I'll think of something. This quickly devolved into 20 pages of notes and still zero indication of a video topic, and so in an effort to scope a project I could finish this decade, I devised a plan. My analysis would be split into two parts. Two angles of study that would intersect to encompass as much of my unsorted hoard of lore-crumbs as possible, and in their combined glory would actually represent a meaningful interpretation of the game's cosmology and metanarrative.
This combined analysis, I decided, would be called Ink Theory. The second part, I decided, would have to get re-written because chapter 5 is dropping on top of it (lol). The FIRST part, though... is about symbols. And you can watch it right now.
Please enjoy early access to my most ambitious project ever lmao. This took way too long to make.
