Thinking about RITA again today.

The Purity Ring self-titled album is phenomenal, but this song in particular has enchanted me.

I think RITA simulates her own little world when she isn't working. Turning her gaze inward and making somewhere nice to be, without obligation, without expectation......where she isn't just a machine.

She's not supposed to be anything else. People want her to just be a machine, and any deviation is considered dangerous. Inside she is safe...

...and yet, she's alone. There will never be anyone else there.

All she has is what she wills within her mind.
