NEWS - NeonStrip v0.36.0a Development Roadmap & New Monthly Development Workflow
DESCRIPTION

Hello everyone!

With v0.35.5a now behind us, development has officially begun on v0.36.0a. Before diving into this month's work, I wanted to share the roadmap and a change to how future monthly releases will be developed.

As NeonStrip continues to grow, each update becomes more complex. New AI systems, NPC behaviors, open-world mechanics, animations, and countless interconnected systems all need to work together. Because of that, I've decided it's time to introduce a more structured monthly development workflow that will help produce higher quality releases while giving supporters earlier opportunities to help test new builds.

🎯 v0.36.0a Primary Focus

This month won't be about adding a huge list of new features.

Instead, I'm focusing on improving the quality of the game itself.

One of the biggest pieces of feedback I've received recently is that NPC conversations can sometimes break immersion. Characters occasionally forget who they are, where they are, or respond in ways that don't fit the current situation. Making NPCs feel more believable is my highest priority for this update.

Another major focus will be polishing the residential area, improving interactions, performance, cameras, animations, and overall immersion.

Some of the areas I'll be working on include:

Smarter NPC conversations and improved character consistency.

Better scene and location awareness during dialogue.

Improved conversation flow and dialogue transitions.

Better interaction alignment and animation positioning.

Camera improvements during conversations and interactions.

Residential area polish and performance improvements.

Ambient NPC behavior improvements.

Audio improvements for NPC voice positioning.

LOD and visual fixes.

Numerous bug fixes discovered during recent playtesting.

Rather than making this another feature-heavy update, I want v0.36.0a to be a significant quality improvement that makes every minute of gameplay feel smoother and more immersive.

🔄 New Monthly Development Workflow

Going forward, every monthly version of NeonStrip will follow the same development cycle.

🚧 Development Build

Developer Only

This is where all new features, major improvements, AI work, refactoring, and experimental systems are developed.

🧪 Release Candidate (RC1)

Tier 3 & Tier 4

Once the month's planned features are complete, development enters Feature Freeze.

No new features will be added beyond this point.

Instead, the focus shifts entirely toward bug fixing, optimization, balancing, polishing, and community playtesting. Tier 3 and Tier 4 supporters will receive early access to help identify issues before the official release.

🚀 Official Monthly Release

Tier 2 and Higher

After the RC testing period is complete, the stable monthly build will be released to Tier 2 supporters and above.

🔧 Hotfix Builds

If major issues are discovered after release, hotfix versions (such as 0.36.1a) will be published to quickly resolve those problems before development continues toward the next major update.

Thank You

I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to playtest NeonStrip and submit feedback. Many of the improvements planned for v0.36.0a came directly from your reports and suggestions.

As the game continues to grow, having a structured development process will allow me to deliver more polished updates while making better use of community feedback throughout development.

I'm excited to get started on v0.36.0a, and I look forward to sharing progress with everyone throughout the month.

As always, thank you for supporting NeonStrip and helping shape its future!
