Wowie, TWO wip wednesdays in a row! I'm really nailing this whole upload schedule thing.First off is just a little thumbnail snippet from part 3 of chapter 10. I'm hoping to hit my goal of completing thumbnails for this part before the checks calendar 8th of this month! oh god that's soon. If I really get on that grindset I'll meet that deadline no problem B)
And then the rest of this week's WIPs! where you can see what I was doing while slacking off on thumbnails lmao. Those who come to streams or have peeked around art fight/toyhouse know that I've been working on a side project, The Wishing Star! It's a story about cats, fae, Ford f-150s, and rabies. It's still very much in the oven cooking, but I recently have completed the first rough outline for the entire story. For the Warriors nerds out there, YES it riffs off Warriors, YES it's based on a clangen run- though the gameplay from the run itself holds little to no bearing on the plot whatsoever, aside from influencing character designs and who dies. And it also doesn't take place in the Warriors universe, so the worldbuilding is its own thing (though uses the general structure of "what if cats had their own little society where they like beating each other to death).
I've been really waffling on what kind of art direction I want for this comic, because I do want it to be a comic, but I'm hardly updating two comics right now let alone a third. So I've been been bouncing around ways to make the process quicker while not sacrificing color or backgrounds. Impressionist cat-shaped blobs using a pencil brush to hide imperfections, using CSP filters on (free use) photo backgrounds, tracing over cat photos, that sort of thing. I also want the art to be distinct from my typical works since I want the story itself to be a different mood from what I usually do. A little more detached in a way, kinda floaty and a tad philosophical. Not sure if I'm quite where I want it yet, but slowly getting there! I might even start on the script for it soon, how exciting.
