Hey yall, I got a bunch of exciting stuff to talk about that's occurred over the last few weeks!
I Attended AES ARVR conference in Seattle a few weeks ago. It was lots of fun. There where all sorts of really cool papers and research presentations given on virtual acoustics topics. I got my own custom HRTF measured at the reality labs soudsphere2, and met some super cool people in the industry.
I had never been to a conference for this particular subset of AES before and it was exciting to see where the industry is. What I'm are doing here with ambisonic and ARC integration is actually right on the heals of the major players out there, so its almost like your getting to experience the future in a way haha. But post the event I have all sorts of new things i want to change in my acoustics algorithms as well as things to implement for the software I'm working on that will proceed ARC.
While I was at AES I met the engineering team from ZYLIA and was able to get my hands on one of their 3ed order ambisonic spatial microphones as pictured. I took it out to an event and captured a bunch of sounds and environments. I'm going to process those and get them up here sometime soon. I'm also working on an interpolation concept for ambient background noise to make things extra immersive in VR with so stay tuned :3
I also was able to do some spatial FIR capturing of my own format I'm experimenting with at a awesome sounding recital hall. Not sure where that one will go but its part of a long path on an exciting project.
