GAZA. Internet access has been patchy at best since Palestinians started leaving Israel's concentration camp in Rafah and trying to get "home" via central Gaza, so I just heard from a close contact for the first time in months. I've been asked not to describe the situation in depth, but suffice it to say, truly foul shit is being done to Palestinians whose fundraisers have gotten much attention on social media. I'm trying to find a viable medium for posting fundraiser information without attracting whatever soulless sons of bitches – you wanna take a guess? – are doing the things I can't mention to the people I can't specify, and I hope I'll be able to find something I can post here, if nowhere else.

Be careful. Public platforms aren't safe for anybody now. Further context would compromise the privacy of people who cannot fuckin' afford that, but on a 1:1 level, I would encourage you to deal with fundraisers that hope to bring in a specific amount of money for a specific necessity – medicine, surgery, repairing tents, repelling the infinite vermin that now feed on the tent shanties. (But enough about Israel.)

None of this is about me, I'm not the important one here, but I must admit that I never imagined I would be asked to identify, from 6500 miles away, the huge swollen sores on a baby's face, or that I'd have to tell the mother "Those are rat bites." See a couple, and they're hard to forget.
