Good day all! I released the bughunt today... though to me it feels like yesterday because I immediately went to bed afterwards So first things first: the Bughunt got released and it usually takes me a day or three to get the early access ready.
Yes... alas this is another month where my hopeful predictions got dashed. Here's an empty Mega folder where I'll put the links to the new early access version once it's ready for anyone of you who won't be at his/her current tier level in March
Sooo lots of dumb stuff happened this month. One of those was my parents windows pc deciding it was time for it to die and taking whatever it could with it... which is a major pain in the ass because I'm typically the first and last line of defense when it comes to this sort of stuff. after trying some simple things I figured trying anything more myself was too risky and I sent it to a company with actual experience with data recovery.
And since I've come to appreciate Linux a lot since the two(?) years I've been using it, I decided to help Linux's adoption rate by making their temporary pc a linux one. If only because it can be installed quickly and doesn't want a Microsoft account.
There have been a load of "flat tire" moments like that this month which do and don't involve pc's.
Anyway, back to FET related stuff. I've been of two very different opinions on how FET's story in the current epilogue would develop further and have been putting off making a real decision on it.
My super power is to be at perfect equilibrium with two opposing opinions within myself. But you can't just sit and wait for it to resolve itself when this was the build in which I HAD to choose. so I went one way at first and halfway through this month I decided that wasn't the best way. I did some overhauling and am pretty happy I did, though it's always a bit of a stab-yourself-in-the-back moment when you actually have to start changing/throwing out what you already did. Mostly bug related problems. Still, as long as I think it will make things more interesting, it's worth it.
I've also been doing some veeeryy tentative excursions into something 3d.. maybe more 2d and a half at the start of this month. I'd like to assume all of us have fantasized about making a 3d open world rpg at least once in their live ... maybe that's just me and I'm projecting hard. But I've certainly done so since I can remember. I don't ever see that really happening, but it got me thinking about old 3d games where they'd use sprites as enemies and I started wondering if something like that couldn't be a simplified/quicker way than using 3d models and still create something 3d-ish.
This is just me thinking out loud, but it got me playing around with a 3d engine in more earnest than before... (though once I changed direction in FET I basically had no more time to do anything concerning that) If I can ever get myself to do stuff for a little each day instead of my usual one track mind which demands an all or nothing approach... maybe I can surprise you in a while... preferably on April fool's day :)
Anyway. This is just me giving all of you a quick update on what to expect in the near future. I'll go and fix/fluff/buff up the bughunt now.
See you again in about... let's say three days.Cheers, Marty
