Ontopic: working on the new 18titans build which will probably be ready on time.
Offtopic!
Soooo, I've been having a bit of trouble. Not a month goes by without any, but this has been a low-key ongoing one which has been slowly becoming bigger over time. I've told you about it before. It's my drawing tablet. I think I've owned three different kinds so far, but I have a looot more than that. All the exact same version, the age old intuos 2 Wacom. It's the one I've been using for all of FET and 18Titans. I think it released in 2001. Yes it's older than the avatar cartoon itself. I got it second hand to begin with. Thing is... Wacom used to make some pretty good stuff(maybe they still do I wouldn't know since I don't own a newer wacom tablet)Anyway, even good stuff breaks down. Sometimes because of my butter fingers, but sometimes just because shit gets old and worn out. So far I've been buying "new" old intuos 2 tablets because It's what I know, it's what will work on my linux pc and because I have soooo many pen nibs for it. But I've come to a point where when I buy them from other people, they arrive broken. Not broken as in they don't work anymore, but broken as in the pen tip won't release as quickly, lines linger, wobbles appear in what are supposed to be straight lines. Wear and tear through time. I've increasingly started to draw lines again and again and it started become incredibly frustrating and time consuming to redraw stuff.
Those aren't even all of my pens. Just the ones I could easily grab for a photo. So when my current one's issues started becoming too much(and I knew buying another old intuos 2 wasn't the solution anymore)I started looking into new tablets. There are so many, but will they even work on my linux pc? Probably... but do I want to order a bunch and send them back again if they don't work... or don't feel right? Ah fuck I don't wanna go through all of that... That's when I all of a sudden saw someone offering a much newer but still a decade old tablet with the right pen nibs and old enough to pretty much be ensured drivers won't be a problem(an intuos 5), released somewhere in 2013 I think, but still future tech compared to what I'm using now. If the decay rate is about the same as for the intuos 2 pens, this one could potentially last me a good wile... providing I don't drop the pens. I don't have it yet though...Arrive soon! Arrive soon! Arrive soon! But I think this could be a good solution for me! I'm having a good feeling about this.To everyone screaming for me to just buy a new one... I'm weird like that. So I'm patiently waiting until it arrives which won't do me much good for the current build probably, but I'm looking forward to less aggravated drawing sessions in the future.
Just imagine drawing something and another person putting their finger on the paper and regularly jerking it back and forward real quick. Or them flicking the back of the pen. That gets old fast. Can't wait for the new/old one to arrive soon!Aaanyway, I'm working on the new Titans build(I think it'll be a fun one) and I'm hoping to have it ready on time, but this pen business has really taken the joy out of the process lately.
The kittens started becoming a pain in the ass because they're trying to go where they aren't supposed to. They really do grow up ridiculously fast! And as always sorry to anyone who has been waiting for a reply from me . God knows I have a one track mind and getting a new build ready will always be the first track I try to finish. Can't wait to tell you all about the new tablet and whether it will make all the smaller annoyances disappear like snow during a heatwave! Hopefully soon!Cheers! Marty out. Untill soon!
