This month I’ve got something big for you. And when I say big, I mean big.
A couple of months ago, one of my long-time Patreon legends (and all-round top-tier human), “Luke The GM,” sent me a photo he snapped while on vacation. On the surface? Just a rooftop parking lot. But the moment I saw it, my brain went into overdrive. The tactical possibilities. The verticality. The tension. The chaos waiting to happen.
What started as a simple rooftop quickly evolved into one of the largest outdoor-style battle maps I’ve drawn in a while. Originally, I only planned to illustrate the rooftop itself—but as I worked, it felt wrong to ignore the surrounding structures. So I expanded it. A lot.
Now you’ve got adjacent buildings perfect for sniper nests. Rooftop vantage points. Long sightlines. Brutal crossfire potential. This isn’t just a parking lot—it’s a cinematic urban combat stage.
This map can represent:
A mall rooftop parking lot
A commercial office building
A multi-level parking garage. (And if you want the internal garage level to pair with it, I’ve already drawn one of those previously - see this post)
Map Variants
Rooftop Secure
A near-empty rooftop. Silent. Still. One lone car parked in shadow.
Perfect for tense stalker scenarios. Surveillance missions. Or maybe that car belongs to a sniper calmly assembling their rifle under the open sky…
Target Detonated
The lot is packed. Engines ticking as they cool.
Then—boom. A nearby vehicle explodes in a violent fireball, sending shrapnel screaming across the rooftop. Was it a missed assassination? Or was someone else the real target?
Over The Edge
A car has smashed through the concrete barrier and now hangs precariously over the drop.
Suicide attempt? Mind control? A desperate escape gone wrong? Or is this dramatic scene just a distraction for something far worse unfolding behind the players’ backs?
Topside Drop
A black van sits parked. Its rear doors open. Crates being loaded—or unloaded.
Is this connected to the criminal network distributing illicit substances seen in previous maps? A drop-off point? A pickup? Or something much more dangerous inside those boxes?
This map gives you height, tension, open sightlines, urban grit, and narrative flexibility. It’s built for snipers, chases, ambushes, and explosive set pieces.
Clear skies. Hard concrete. Nowhere to hide.
Let’s see what your players do with it.
Let me know how you go with this battle map. I’d love to hear how you plan to use it in the comments below. Speak soon!
