Hey all! I've decided to share a little step-by-step of a piece I've been working on these past few days~ Here's a brief rundown of the process:
1. lineart! simple and to the point
2. basic colors! also simple (and very ugly at this stage!)
3. basic shadow. add darker tones with airbrush
4. start to add more tones, as well as an overly of color
5. paint the full bg, plus start to add depth to the face
6. really focusing on details (mostly quinn, but vince will get his turn soon)
7. finally paint the dreaded tac vest -_-
8. vincent's pretty face appears ✧
9. full figures painted. I remove the line at this stage and tweak accordingly
10. splat the tattoos right on the boy
11. adjust the tattoos by turning into a light green on multiply, erase some spots
12. lineart is back, but I turned it red! this is the same line as before, I've just adjusted it in parts
13. lighten the background, just because
14. use psds to adjust the colors (and add cig smoke because I forgot!)
15. final color adjust and add grain layer
16. finished version with watermark!
And there we have it! (I also realized as I was looking through these that I forgot Vincent's scar, so now I have to go add that 😅)
