Lorelai doesn't rush to her. She settles close enough to be there, but not close enough to invade Kate's space and thoughts. For a while neither of them speaks, just rain filling the silence.
"You don't have to do it alone, you know?"
Kate's expression hardens slightly, that's not what she's been taught.
"And if you're going to be so stubborn about it then I'll keep you company."
Kate glances at her even if for just a brief look. Lorelai steps a little closer this time, raindrops hit her too. Her voice softens.
"You look like you shouldn’t be alone right now.”
