CPS3 core keeps moving. The Score Screen (SS) graphics layer is now integrated in the core.
The CPS3 SS chip draws an overlay on top of the game image. And its technology is something we could call legacy. It uses 16-color 8x8 pixel tiles to draw a scrollable screen that is rendered in sync with the CRT beam. It is pretty much like most background layers in older arcade hardware.
An advance feature though is the adjustable per-line scroll. Instead of simply scrolling the whole screen, or 8 pixel rows, it is possible to set a different scroll setting per line.
This chip has a qurik too: its own programmable screen timing. So it is possible to program this chip to operate at a different resolution from the main video chip. Although it would probably only create a mess on screen!
Update_all can now sync your JT beta key as well as other Patreon attachments automatically. Just run it, press up to get to the settings screen and then log in. This feature has been developed by theypsilon, so please contact him for support.
Yie Ar Kung-Fu KAI, we are collaborating with a local school of video games (IES Font de Sant Lluis, Valencia). They sent us two interns. I proposed them to improve the graphics of some arcade games, keeping compatibility with the original hardware. They are young people under 20 who have never seen these games nor are they familiar with this kind of technology. Nonetheless, they love to work on this and that feeling is visible in the edits they have made. To enjoy this, just get the MRA file from the attached file. We plan to release a few more of these KAI versions during their internship.
