As many of you know, water has always been a solid color (shown above). Although the pack is developed with shaders in mind (which typically completely replace the water), many users run the pack on it's own.
Water in Minecraft contains 96 unique textures. Which if to be kept in the style of the pack, would need to be drawn out by hand individually. Even the original water in the game isn't technically pixel art, and was generated using various noise filters, so it hardly has any structure to work with. When/if it's ever attempted, it will surely take days (or weeks) of development time.
This being so, I proposed an update to the current placeholder (shown above) in the Discord; which I held to a public vote. It is simply the vanilla water texture smoothed out with a couple photoshop filters and an interpolated animation (no AI used in any of this).
Ideally this will one day be replaced with a proper hand-made texture; but for now (as you can see by the poll results), the new texture won by a landslide. Though when it comes to the pack there will be a free add-on made available with the solid colored water; for those who wish to continue using it.
In other news, more ore remakes being worked on! Will be sharing more in the next couple days 👀
