Thanks for your patience regarding the December update, now that I've had some time to recollect myself, I'm happy to share the newest update with you all! This month, we have the following:
New save system
Saving now writes your game data to an editable file, rather than into the Unity PlayerPrefs system. This update also means that you'll have the opportunity to undo your saved progress by quitting out of the game without saving (keep in mind that you can also lose your progress this way, too!)
UNFORTUNATELY, YOUR EXISTING SAVES WILL NOT WORK ON THIS VERSION OF THE GAME!!!
I spent some time during this update trying to find a way to migrate them but unfortunately, the idea to use PlayerPrefs as the saving system was very flawed. On the bright side, you should be able to share the save file located in your persistent data path (On windows, this is under AppData/LocalLow/PastryGames/THWETHB/Save.hbs).
New pause menu
It's high-time the pause menu received some love, so I gave it a fresh coat of paint to make way for the new saving options at your disposal. There is another feature in the works that I couldn't finish in time for this update, but I'll leave that as a little surprise for next month's release!
New sprites
Maxi and Mini have just received a new set of dialogue sprites! There were two reasons for this upgrade:
- 1. I've wanted to experiment with more varied and expressive sprites, the early cutscenes of the game felt like a good time to show off the change, and the interactions with Maxi and Mini are so old that they already needed a rework in their dialogue anyway.
- 2. I accidentally saved over the original sprite for mini with the two character's sprites merged (bweh...)
