I don't know if Bloom has an upper limit to getting bwomped, but for now, let's just say that this is it. Otherwise, I'll have to devise a system of classification for the stages of bwomp, and I'm not ready for that.
If it wasn't clear, Bloom's outfit wasn't meant to be pushed this far. I designed it to stretch just enough so that she barely still fits it while bwomped. However, with the introduction of a new stage of bwomp, it seems that this outfit has given up all hope for its wearer. For the sake of Bloom's dwindling modesty, I will probably have to design her another outfit, because I feel bad for doing this to her.
Ok, nerdy stuff incoming, so be warned.
You may have noticed that Bloom gets taller when extra-bwomped. This is because bwomp also affects the skeleton. It's a characteristic of bwomp that I haven't discussed much, but basically, bwomp affects characters from the inside out. All internal organs--not just fatty tissues--get bwompy. This includes bones, making them flexible, less prone to breaking, and, of course, larger (you can see this with this character's skeleton). For standard bwomps, the skeleton only becomes thicker, not taller. However, once the bones hit a point of critical mass, the skeleton begins to stretch outward as well, allowing for the rest of the body to continue bwomping. If there is a measurable point at which a character goes from bwompy to extra-bwompy, this is probably it.
Now, if all organs increase in size, how does this affect muscles? Do bwomped muscles make characters stronger? No, not really. While a bwomped character's muscles technically become larger with the rest of the body, they do not GROW larger. That is, bwomp does not give muscles any of the structural reinforcement that they'd get from exercise and protein. Without this reinforcement, muscles just get large and soft--kinda like how the bones do. So, if you want to get strong, you have to put in the work! No shortcuts!
