Dear legions, We had truly been looking forward to playing our first show of the year in Belgium on February 7th, but that won't happen. Some of you may have seen the official statement posts on our social medias, but here we always want to offer a little bit deeper explanation/insight in what the words may mean. "The festival has failed to fulfill their part of the contract." is a classic line we all have seen before regarding festivals from so many band, and basically this is what it means: The festival hasn't paid the deposition that is agreed upon and in the contract.
Why is it so important that they pay the deposition? • To secure us as a booked band showing professionalism that they are serious about making this festival, and not only to book bands and then to cancel it out of nowhere.• The deposit agreed upon is to cover our costs, and in this case - and majority of other cases it is the flight tickets. Flight tickets for this festival was approx. 2-2500€ for the band + 1 in crew. We are not supposed to be expected to pay this upfront, and then if they cancel the festival for whatever reason we have risked and already paid this amount from our own pockets. We're not supposed to carry that risk when we are booked and wished for to play at a festival. That is just not how things works. So unfortunately they didn't keep their part of the contract. They even said last Friday "we will transfer today", and fast forward to today, Wednesday - no money has been shown and after several attempts of reaching them they have left our booking agent on read without a reply. Very unprofessional, and we are very disappointed since we truly looked forward to this and have put time into promoting it and a lot of work behind the scenes with it already. We are truly sorry for the ones it have affected, and if you bought tickets just to see us - we are sorry. We are just as disappointed as you, if not more. If you have any questions, please leave them in the comment section and we get back to you - or if you're intending to join the Patreon hangout upcoming Sunday, feel free to ask by then too! Thank you for your support and understanding ❤︎With love, Madeleine, Rikard & Victor
