After Samus's last water related incident, the lab decided to conduct more tests on her and her body to see what's her breaking point, they also took this opportunity to try out the new stretchy material they developed using her suit design, they would've tried it out on test dummies but those somehow are not as stretchy as her and most of this corporation's "lab rats" have all burst on them
