Moulin Rouge 💗💫 movie study [process + preview]

Hello Patrons,

Another movie study !! I'm so happy I get to do these during my free time !
This is a movie that I watched when I was younger (in high school maybe ?) and I had such a good memory of it, I loved it but never rewatched it again until last year and let me tell you I cried during the whole film 🥹

I love everything about it, every scene is beautiful and inspiring, the clothes, the songs... everything. So I really wanted to paint Satine and Christian, but it was hard to choose one scene, they're all so magical and mesmerizing. So I picked this one :

It's been in my Pinterest folder for years ! I have a bunch of other references from Moulin Rouge but at some point I had to make a choice 😶

First painting session : background.
There are so many complicate things going on in the background that I was glad to start with the annoying little details (and finish with the fun part : characters) :

Next day, second session : I started with Satine 😍 I like how her hair turned out !

And next I painted Christian - I thought it would take me longer to finish this study since there are so many details, but thanks to Christian's suit, I just had to paint his head + shirt and it was done !

Details :

The characters don't look exactly like the actors but the looks and clothes make it ok I think.
I'm quite happy with the result, I hope you are too !

Next I want to paint (another) Grand Budapest Hotel scene with Zero & Agatha (when she's baking the religieuses). Last time I painted my first Grand Budapest scene was in 2020 - I can't wait to see how I am going to do it differently this time !
