So, some bad news, but we learn and move on

DESCRIPTION

So, earlier today just before heading into work, I received a notification letting me know Shueisha have given my channel a copyright strike, and taken down my Marriagetoxin video.

This sucks for several reasons. The obvious being my hard work is now gone and many people can't watch it anymore. I also receive no ad revenue from the video either, and it was doing tremendously well for me. One of the best viewed videos in a while. So yeah. Very depressing.

The real concern in Shueisha. I'm asking around first to see whether countering their strike is worth it. Some youtubers have, and they've won -- removing the strike and keeping their video. But! It also comes with legal risk. Say I counter them, they're in every right to take me to court (doubt they would, but it's a risk i'm not willing to take)

So, where am I left now? What about the future?

Well, to me, this is a sign to not cover anything by Shueisha. It's too big a risk. And quite frankly, an absolute downer to put more than 100+ hours worth into a project, for it to be removed. Which.... is massively unfortunate, as they own all of Weekly Shonen Jump, Jump+ and other magazines.

I've put my Chainsaw Man and Blue Flag videos on private whilst this strike stuff is going on. 3 strikes simultaneously, and your channel get terminated. I'm not risking that. When things have calmed down, i'll put them back to public.

As for future videos... This one sucks...

I'd planned to make videos on: Claymore, Haikyuu, Hunter x Hunter, Girl Meets Rock, The Bugle Call and a few others. They're all covered by Shueisha.

Including Ichi the Witch.

Which was meant to be the next video, and one I've already done all the script work, recording and even a tiny bit of editing on. I think, especially with an active strike, I'll have to scrap the Ichi video for now. That's far too risky.

So, the question is, what manga can I cover? Well, I still have a lot I wish to cover that aren't under Shueisha's shadow:

The Girl from the Other Side, My Broken Mariko, Eden of Witches, Medalist, The Isekai Doctor, The Moon on a Rainy Night, Mushishi, Dorohedoro, Banana Fish, The Color of the End, Chihayafuru, Ikokku Nikki, Shonen Note, Dinosaur Sanctuary, Deep Sea Aquarium MagMell, etc

Anything Afternoon/Kodansha seems to be safe. Witch Hat Atelier, Skip and Loafer, Blue Period & Land of the Lustrous are all good. Harta, I didn't have any issues with the Delicious in Dungeon video, and that's over 1 million views. Shogakukan seems fine too.

I mean, Shirahama Kamome rt'd my Witch Hat video, as did Kasumi Yasuda for my Fool Night video, and Kodansha rt'd my Spacewalking with You video. So, as far as I'm aware, it really is a pick and choose thing with some companies.

It really is just Jump i'm going to have to avoid. I know that might disappoint some of you, it disappoints me, but I just can't risk it.

So, I'm going to have to take the rest of today and tomorrow to reset. Think about what video I should now work on. I'll update you all ASAP on that. And I'll upload the Marriagetoxin video up on here later today too.

All the best,

Dani
