Chapter 5 of Liberation is here! A collaboration between me and the wonderful Zoe Storm — she's writing, I'm making the art. We have 14 pages this time, and 7 images!
In Chapter 5, Hans begins his new life as "Florian" at Castle Salgen. There's a healer with a mysterious draught, a master-at-arms who doesn't pull his punches, and a mother who smells something she can't quite place. The danger in this chapter isn't loud or bloody. Instead, it's delivered in small glass bottles, three times a day.
This is a slow burn, the way all the best fantasy is (in my most humble of opinions 😉) - Zoe is planting seeds here that will bloom into something unforgettable.
This novel explores power, identity, and survival in a medieval world that's similar to our own — but not quite. Working with Zoe on this continues to be one of my favorite creative projects. Her writing is fantastic, and I'm really in love with bringing her world to life with the art.
