We're finally here. The penultimate episode of Phase 9.
This one is 51 pages! That's not my longest comic episode ever (that title still belongs to the Homecoming Season 3 finale), but without question the most complex I've ever put together. So many characters, so many moving pieces, so many threads that all needed to feel connected and alive at the same time.
I wanted this episode to feel like the third act of a thriller - reactions stacking on top of reactions, emotional beats landing between the action, tension that doesn't let you breathe. Whether I pulled it off is for you to decide, but I can tell you it's the episode I've worked hardest on in a very long time.
There was a very specific shape I had in mind for this story from the beginning, and Part 39 is where that shape finally becomes visible. Everything that's been building - Josie, Connie, Jill, her father, the Coming Out dinner, the server rooms, Morosini - it's all converging.
One more episode after this. Phase 9 is almost over.
I can't wait to hear what you think. 💕
