this is just the quickest post ever to let all of you know that updating to ios26 on apple devices will introduce an outline around the apps and widgets that makes the phone and ipad set-up a lot less seamless! if you are interested in preserving the seamless look to your phone, i would recommend not updating to the recent update (i also hear it drains the battery, so that could be another reason~) <33
if you have already updated or had no choice, i did a little googling around and someone on reddit said 'to really get rid of the effect, go to settings, accessibility, display and text, reduce transparency. that will remove the translucent look of almost everything. If you just want to lessen the effect, chose the increased contrast option,'
this seems to work for some people to help minimise the effect, as confirmed by erica in the comments below, however my lovely friend in our discord said that they tried that method and 'all it really does is reduce the glass effect for things like notifications and overlays, but it doesnt remove the app outline', so it seems like this method helps a little bit, but not fully! hopefully apple listens to our feedback and offers a way to turn the app outline off soon - if there is ever an option to do so, or a fix, i will update this post!
in the meantime, a 'workaround' could be using wallpaper and app icons with a white background, as that will blend more <3
