We wanted to provide a quick clarification regarding tiers and premium content, as there’s been some understandable confusion following recent changes.
For Detective tier members, nothing is changing in terms of the amount of content you receive.
In 2025, Detective tier members received 32 brand-new episodes.
In 2026, Detective tier members will again receive 32 brand-new episodes.
The only change is to how episodes are labelled.
Previously, some episodes were titled as “Premium Episodes.” These episodes were always released early on Patreon and then later made available on the main feed as numbered Casefile episodes, typically 2 to 4 months afterward. "Premium episodes" were never intended to imply exclusive long-term bonus only content, and we were always transparent about the fact that these "premium" episodes would eventually make their way to the main feed as a numbered episode. But this naming and release structure has caused ongoing confusion both for listeners and for us as well.
To simplify things and make the structure clearer, we’ve decided to remove the “Premium Episode” label entirely.
Going forward:
Detective tier members will continue to receive episodes one week early and ad-free.
All content remains the same in volume and quality. Only the titles have changed.
The only difference is that main feed listeners will now consistently be one week behind, rather than having every fourth episode delayed by several months.
The archive series releases are completely separate from all of this and do not count towards the 32 new episodes you will be receiving. They are purely extra content to mark the 10th year of Casefile.
We understand how on the surface it might feel like content has been reduced, but we want to reassure you that you are not receiving fewer episodes. This change is purely about clarity and consistency.
It’s also worth noting that the premium episodes were originally intended to be shorter releases (around 15–30 minute episodes). Very quickly, however, they evolved into full-length Casefile episodes, which further blurred the distinction and added to the confusion.
For these reasons, we’ve decided to retire the “Premium Episode” label entirely and move forward with all episodes released as standard numbered Casefile episodes.
