Hey folks! I'm here to provide an update on what's going on, what's been going on and what's about to be.
You've probably noticed the slowdown in new chapters; those who are active on my discord server are also likely aware I have been struggling through a particularly bad depressive episode recently. I'm pleased to report that the latter has broken and I have my ability to think and act restored. So that's a pure win! Less fortunately, I'm still struggling with the new chapters due to what I now recognize as encroaching burnout.
Basically, I need to do that thing I always hate doing: take a break. I know if I push at it, it'll only get worse.
The upside is that this is fortuitously timed; I need to pivot my attention to something else for a while.
I got back the annotated and edited manuscript for the new first book of TGAB which I submitted to Podium and there are just...so many problems. It's a mess. But in a good way! The editor's commentary has been incredibly insightful; all his advice is very solid and I can see immediately how acting on it will dramatically improve the story. So this is a good thing, and I'm excited to get cracking on it!
But the upshot is I have so much work to do. It's gonna be a lot. So for the time being, I will be shifting my attention to that, to make sure the book that comes out is the best it can be.
As yet, I don't have all the important details I want to share with you: how long this will take, and whether shifting focus to editing and re-writing old content will recharge my batteries so I can get right back to creating new content when I'm done, or if I'll have to take a proper break after this round of revisions. As always, I will be in communication about developments to make sure everybody stays up to speed.
I say it every time but it never stops being true and worth saying: I'm grateful for your support. I always am, but I feel it particularly in moments like this when I have to step back and it'll be a little while till a new chapter comes. Your patience and support is what makes it possible for me to keep at it, and to keep getting up and coming back no matter how often I get knocked down. I'm going to do my absolute best to make sure you still have good stories to read.
Thanks, everybody. I'll check in soon!
