Je presente to you (yes je parle fluent French now), an early glimpse of our new video before it goes live on Friday. Lots of love went into this one from all sides, but also some disappointment, as on the day we showed up to shoot at this (frankly insane) location, all the way back in August, nobody answered the door and we waited around on the street for two hours before giving up.When we finally secured another date a couple of weeks ago, we were greeted at the door by a frankly vampiric man dressed entirely in black velvet, who spoke only in monosyllables, as he showed us around this building stuffed full of Victorian-era taxidermised animals. No idea how they got hold of them. A lot of them looked like they might have been reclaimed from a museum store cupboard, but I imagine most of them were trophy killings, which is pretty depressing. The orangutan in particular made me sad. He had such a kind face, albeit reconstructed entirely (and unconvincingly) from Plaster of Paris. But as a space it fit so perfectly with the theme of the song that we leant into it. I hope these gorgeous animals know their premature and unjust deaths were not in vain. They have contributed to my Important Oeuvre in unspeakable ways and for that I will be permanently grateful.I hope you love this one. I think it adds something of a different flavour to the Emu canon and I'm really proud of it.
All my love JE xxx
