Good day to my Eggies (boiled or fried, I presume, as summer approaches its zenith). I bring tidings of great joy, a new music video, which you get to watch first!We're so proud of this one. I wrote it back in February, and we've had to wait a while to shoot it, what with other busy things going on. It feels like a very distilled encapsulation of the things Hunter and I have been trying to make over the last few years. We're really feeling in the swing of it right now!We filmed the whole thing in a day, at our dear friend Joe's house in the old dockyards in London. He lives in the old Master Shipwright's House, alongside about a dozen other creative people, and runs their arts programme (they put on dramatic plays and lascivious burlesque performances and the like in the garden). The dockyard was founded by King Henry VIII but the house itself was built in the early 1700s, when shipbuilding in London was booming. But I think we can all agree it has found its true spiritual form as the home for a Jazz Emu video containing some crispy eyes. It's a pretty amazing space, right on the river Thames with beautiful wooden beams that seem close to collapse and a tight-knit community of supportive artists. They were kind enough to loan us their beautiful photography space for this concept, and we are very grateful.We're also grateful to Eleanor Coleville and Asha Verma, who dived into it with zest and brought some life and variety to the screen solely inhabited by my own visage. I had always had the image of the final dance sequence in my head from the start so it was especially exciting to have Asha come in, an old friend from my school days, to throw some shapes.Hunter and I write, produce, direct, and art-direct these shoots entirely by ourselves. We figure we are doing the jobs of at least six people between us for a shoot like this! It is our vision to communicate this to people who can pay us properly to do this so they can see what a good deal they'd be getting. To be honest, we could do with expanding the team at some points. Yesterday we filmed something for the live show and I left the goblin mask (an essential prop) at home. We had to order a cab to ferry just the fluorescent green goblin mask in the front seat. Needless to say the driver looked uncomfortable when he handed it over. It's a long journey, towards finding someone who will pay to organise the transportation of goblin masks in our stead, but we are getting there.
