MustardUI 2026.1 - Optimizations and Morph Presets + Some other Updates

DESCRIPTION

Hey everyone!

Sorry for the lack of updates, I'm working on the new MustardUI version (the first 2026 version). I wanted to focus a bit on some complaints I got in the past months.

Optimizations (up to +50% more fps)

I’ve heard some concerns about MustardUI affecting performance, so I want to clarify a few things.

First off: MustardUI itself does not slow down models. It’s purely a property aggregator: it doesn’t add any runtime computations or affect viewport performance. If you’re curious, the code is open on GitHub and you can check for yourself. Any slowdown you experience comes from the models themselves, not the add-on. It’s a common misconception, so I wanted to clear that up.

That said, some models, especially those based on Diffeomorphic, can be heavy. To help with this, I’ve been working on new optimization features. For example, improving how outfits are activated gave the new Tifa model over a 50% FPS boost in the viewport (solid mode with keyframes). 🎉

These optimizations will be part of MustardUI 2026.1, and they’re designed to help all models, not just Diffeomorphic/MHX/Daz-based ones. And I have some ideas for a couple more stuffs that will make the models even faster.

A note for creators: To avoid surprises, these optimization features are disabled by default. You can enable them by following the instructions in the MustardUI Wiki or the changelog.

I hope this helps clear things up: MustardUI is meant to make your workflow smoother, not slower.

Morph Presets

Another common complaint has been the difficulty of sharing or transferring morphs. If you have a lot of them, it can be tedious to give others a full list of values. Or even to update your model to a new version, because you’d have to manually reapply all the morphs.

This is now solved in the new version with Morph Presets. They work much like standard Blender presets: set them up once, and call them whenever you need. You can also save them to a file for easy sharing and storage.

Here are some ways Morph Presets can help:

Share your body or expression morphs with others.

Transfer morphs to the same model — for example, when opening a new blend file or updating the model.

Transfer morphs to a different model — MustardUI will automatically apply only the available morphs, skipping any that don’t exist.

For creators: you can create presets to share with users. Presets stored in a blend file are permanently added to the model when imported, ready for your users to call.

I hope that Morph Presets will make managing, transferring, and sharing morphs much faster and hassle-free, for both personal use or for distributing your models.

I will share more new functionalities as soon as I finish coding them. As always, if you have any comment or ideas for the UI, please let me know. 😊

Other Updates

I updated Tifa to Alpha 4: it does not contains the optimizations I mentioned here, as they will be available when MustardUI 2026.1 is available. But it should consume much less RAM/VRAM with some shader optimizations.

Yuki will also be available with MustardUI 2026.1. The model was too slow to be released, after this fps boost is ready to go. :)
